Hi, my name’s Elisabeth and I’m the face behind the camera at MarcelMarcel Fine Art Pet Photography. I came to dog photography not too long after I got my shih tzu Marcel. I had previously studied Fine Art photography at BA level and went on to complete my MA in Fine art, specialising in photography. I named Marcel after Marcel Duchamp, the father of conceptual art and it then seemed fitting to name my studio after the dog who inspired it.
As a conceptual artist I dealt with themes of relationships, absence and loss in my work. When Marcel came into my life I became overwhelmed by this new relationship and began to explore it through the medium of photography.
I became particularly interested in stripping away the visual noise of the everyday which allowed me to capture the nuances and aspects of his personality without the distractions of context; essentially seeing him less as a dog and more of the being he is. I apply this to my work today , capturing the dogs essence whilst creating timeless fine art portraits of our beloved companions.
If you would like to chat to me about creating your own fine art portrait of your dog(s) enquire today via the enquiry form or drop into the studio for a chat .
