Hi, my name’s Elisabeth and I’m the face behind the camera at MarcelMarcel Fine Art Pet Photography. I came to dog photography not too long after I got my shih tzu Marcel. I had previously studied Fine Art photography at MA level.
As a conceptual artist I dealt with themes of relationships, absence and loss in my work. When Marcel came into my life I became overwhelmed by this new relationship and began to explore it through the medium of photography.
I became particularly interested in stripping away the visual noise of the everyday which allowed me to capture the nuances and aspects of his personality without the distractions of context; essentially seeing him less as a dog and more of the being he is. I apply this to my work today, capturing the dogs essence whilst creating timeless fine art portraits of our beloved companions.
